Hello I'm Sally

I'm a (mostly) self-taught ceramic artist 'in the making' with a love of the sea and anything shell related. I live in Burscough in the UK and play with clay in my tiny downstairs studio which looks out into my garden.

I started my journey with clay around lockdown. I took a wheel throwing workshop and as soon as my hands were wrapped around the smooth and wobbling clay, I was hooked. Nothing has reflected back to me more about life than clay. You have to treat it with respect, sometimes softness and sometimes brute force. It has taught me patience and that some things can't be rushed.

I have two days a week to create with clay, so it is a slower process to create enough and have enough to fire but it's always so exhilarating waiting for the kiln to cool down so I can peer in at the goodies within.

I love the concept of 'intentional living'; not having more than we need, but that the things we do invite into our homes reflects the life we want to live. My hope is that my creations reflect back a feeling of simplicity and an organicness, representing a kinder way to live on earth.
